THE VALE Symposium 2026
The in person The VALE Symposium takes place on 5th December 2026 in Hamburg. This year's theme is value-driven leadership in a hybrid age, an honest look at what it means to lead with purpose when teams are spread across screens, time zones, and borders. The day brings together youth workers, NGO leaders, civil society practitioners, and invited guests for keynotes, peer-led workshops, and collaborative dialogue, all in a single carefully crafted day.
Whether you come to learn, to teach, or simply to think out loud with people who take these questions seriously, you are welcome here.

The way we lead has changed. Across Europe, youth organisations are still adapting to a reality where teams meet half on screen and half across borders, where engagement is built without shared offices, and where leadership has to work across digital and physical space at once. Few leaders were trained for this — and fewer still have peer networks to think it through with.

The VALE Symposium brings together youth workers, practitioners, partner organisations, and invited guests in Hamburg on 5th December 2026 to think out loud about what value-driven leadership looks like when half of our work happens online. Keynotes, peer-led workshops, and collaborative dialogue, in a single carefully crafted day.

What sets the Symposium apart is who is on stage. The workshop programme is designed and delivered by fifty youth leaders from across Europe — practitioners sharing tools, dilemmas, and breakthroughs from their own work. It is learning by teaching at scale, paired with the kind of curation, atmosphere, and craft The VALE has been refining for years: a space where ideas land, people connect, and the day feels well spent.

The Symposium opens its doors to Hamburg's youth work scene, the wider non-profit sector, and to organisations and individuals who recognise that the next generation of European leadership is being shaped right now. We are building this together with a small circle of values-aligned partners. If that sounds like you, we would love to hear from you.
Partner with us
This Symposium will be only as good as the network behind it. If you believe in the cause, there are many ways to be part of it.
Help us by:
-
Backing the Symposium: sponsoring the catering, the venue, travel grants for participants from further afield, the keynote, or the documentation that lets the day's ideas travel beyond the room.
-
Bringing your people: opening the doors of your network so the right Hamburg practitioners, NGO leaders, and civil society colleagues can be in the room.
-
Contributing to the programme: proposing a speaker, a workshop, or a perspective from your field that belongs in this conversation.
-
Lending what you've got: a venue we should know about, AV gear, design work, documentation skills, or anything else that helps us put on a Symposium worthy of the topic.
If any of this resonates, write to George at george@thevale.eu — we would love to talk.
