The Travel Hub
By now, you probably have an idea about your travels to Estonia. On this page you will find information about our venue and a packing list.
More information about the logistics of Module 2 will be published here at a later point in time.
The Venue: Ruunawere Postimõis Hotell

The Ruunawere Hotel is located in the building of a former post station. Ruunawere Hotel is a complex of historic buildings dating back to 1924. Located in quiet picturesque surroundings, it is 500 m from the Tallinn–Pärnu highway, and Tallinn is within 50 km.
Fun fact, Ruunawere literally means Gelding’s Blood. It received its name after a battle held between Swedes and Poles in 1567, “where the fight was hard and blood reached until the knee of a gelding”. However, that might just be a story...
Activities in the area include hiking, for example to the fortress in Varbola 4 km away.
Oh, and did we include that there is a SAUNA CENTER that we will have ONLY FOR OURSELVES?
Check it out at: https://ruunawere.ee/en/

Each of the spacious rooms will provide you with a seating area.
You will likely to share a room with another person, and some of the rooms are 2 + 2, meaning four people in the
same “apartment”. The rooms have private bathrooms.
Local transportation
Since our venue for Module 2 is located in a remote area in Estonia, there is little to no public transportation to the venue.
We have arranged for a charter bus for our group. Any travel beyond that is logistically challenging and could prove expensive. This is why we ask you to be extra communicative about any potential delays or changes to your travel plans – and to be ready a bit early, whenever possible.
More detailed about the meeting point in Tallin will be communicated at a later stage.

Meeting point in Tallin
16:15 at Mere Puiestee 5 (which is near F.M. Dostoyevski Monument). The big parking spaces where the bus will probably park are on the side of the road.
Packing List
"When climbing a mountain, pack a light heart." - Dan May

Comfy indoor clothes
It’s hard to look good when learning, so bring comfy clothes.

Indoor footwear
Estonian floors are cold too. Indoor slippers or wool socks are a winner's choice!

Swimsuit
We are going to a spa hotel and there might be a night or two where we can actually use it!

Water bottle
For longer sessions it makes sense to bring your water with you.

Outdoor shoes & jacket
We'll spend time walking outside, and March weather is still unpredictable (even in Estonia) - so prepare for wind, rain and / or cold. We will be taking an outside excursion into the forests, so please bring shoes and pants that can get muddy, and a jacket that warms you up. Avoid white, if possible. We also really recommend hats, scarves and gloves.

Smart casual outfit
Pack a nice outfit for the Challenge presentation as we will have illustrious guests! Who will it be? The pope, the mayor of Tallinn, someone from the European commission?

Your VALE folder
What would you do without your folder? The one place where all strings of TheVALE run together!

Adapter
Check whether you need an adapter for Estonia. While you will not need your phone or other devices a lot, it is nice to know that they have power.

Travel documents
(ID, insurance, boarding pass)
We cannot stress this enough: please travel with a valid travel document and visa! And check your travel insurance.
Additionally, remember to take a screenshot of your boarding pass or print it out (might not get on the plane otherwise :D)!

The items from the interim tasks
Please bring the following: Whatever you need for the presentation, the lifeline, and the weekly schedule from prep tasks 4, 7, and 8. You can read about these on the "During" page.

Physical copies of your boarding passes from both modules
For administrative purposes we require the physical copies. If you did not have any and only had them digitally, please print them out and bring them.

Medication
If you require any medication for the journey (e.g. the one hour bus travel to the venue) or the duration of the module, bring it with you!
